TEAMS-KB provides a knowledge base for model management and maintenance data collection

TEAMS-KB is a database of TEAMS models, text and media (photos, videos, drawings, etc) of repair procedures, results of diagnostic sessions, and other information used by the system to generate procedures and reports. It stores and manages system models, parameters from the model (cost, time, and failure rate data), and session history.

It is used for model management to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, diagnostics data collection, statistical data analysis, and data mining for trend and anomaly detection/isolation. TEAMS-KB, residing within RDS, can be deployed at multiple maintenance sites.

Reports with insight

TEAMS-KB's compilation of TEAMS model and TEAMATE session data provides system wide insight. Here are some questions TEAMS-KB can help answer:
  • What are the optimal shelf-stocks of spares?
  • What are the bottleneck operations that slow down the entire maintenance process?
  • How do I fine-tune my diagnostic strategies based on field failure data?
  • What is the cost and time of maintenance for any given symptom?
  • For a given symptom, what is the distribution of failure across the replaceable items?
  • Are some symptoms or tasks taking longer than expected and should training programs be updated to address these?
The reports generated by TEAMS-KB can provide insight into operations which slow down the entire maintenance process. TEAMS-KB can pinpoint unusually long task times and repeated failures of components. It will update failure rates and time/cost parameters used by TEAMATE, refining the entire system over time with new information based on actual field data.

TEAMS-KB has various parameter estimation algorithms built into it for the analysis of maintenance data. It can be used to refine the system model residing in the knowledge base of TEAMS by updating repair costs, repair times, component failure rates and diagnostic costs and times.
